WHAT'S A "ROCK PLANT"?

We know what the asphalt plant and the cement plants are. The rock plant is even bigger and noisier and produces more dust than any of the other plants.  You never hear anyone from Superior Ready Mix talking about the massively huge rock plant they have.  They probably don't want to draw attention to it.  It's a sprawling combination of powerful crushing machines and conveyers and screens and washers. The main crusher part of the rock plant is below grade when viewed from Mission Gorge Road.  So, it doesn't call attention to itself, except, of course for the seemingly endless conglomeration of conveyor belts.  And if you are nearby when it starts up, you know that it creates a lot of unpleasant noise.

The rock plant in this video is NOT Superior's.  The one in the video is a portable rock plant, much smaller and newer than the rock plant that Superior has. But it will give you some idea of what a rock plant is like.
